The 2017 Nourishing Arizona All About Healthy Living recipe contest is open to any Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council or Southern Arizona Council active member in grades K - 12. Recipes must be original and submitted no later than Sunday, October 15. Contestants under the age of 13 must have a parent submit the recipe.
All recipe entries will be reviewed considering the following criteria: nutritional value, potential taste, average cost per serving for ingredients and originality.
For a recipe to be considered, the follow must apply:
- Is an original recipe for a cold side dish
- Includes at least one or more fruit and/or vegetable
- Can be cooked within 20 minutes (including prep time)
A panel of judges including a health professional will review entries and select 5 finalists from each Council from the applications received. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona will then conduct phone interviews on or about Wednesday, October 18 with these finalists to select the winners. The winners will be announced on or about October 20, 2017. There will only be one winner per Council.
Please note: if your child is selected as a winner or a finalist, we may ask them to participate in potential TV and newspaper interviews, as well as photo opportunities. The winners may also be asked to participate in community events on dates TBD, if available to attend.
All Girl Scouts submitting a recipe will earn the All About Healthy Living patch and Health rocker. Each winner will also receive $150 to spend at her Council shop.
Any Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council or Southern Arizona Council active member in grades K - 12 can enter the contest. Preferential treatment will not be given to children of members of Blue Cross Blue Shield Arizona or children of employees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona
